Need to be crafty

Last night I sat down to crop some pix from our Summer trip to the Land-o-Dr. Geek's birth. I was using my Deluxe Design pages by Design kit. I got myself stumped with what solid card stock to use with some summery patterned paper. In the end I left the pieces on the table and walked away. Perhaps inspiration will strike later.

Yesterday I got my issue of Scrapbooks Etc. They had an article about using the Love, Elsie  Zoie line for some cute layouts. I have the Jack & Abby kit and thought it would be cute use this idea for some pictures with the house. Maybe this might help me get the creative juices re-flowing!

It's been a long long while!

I've been a very bad blogger, and I apologize to my many  three readers. It has been crazy busy of late. I took 2 days to attend MacWorld and then this week was off the hook. Having a short week meant that what should barely fit into 5 full days was mashed into 4. I won't go into details just believe me when I say on most occasions I didn't know if I was coming or going.

I haven't been able to do anything crafty since last Tuesday. I need to remedy that quickly. It just might improve my overall well being. I so wanted to be doing the Layout A Day Challenge and was going pretty well there for a while. Maybe I can bang out some pages this weekend.

Here's to better days!

Maybe I should go get a manicure, that might improve my overall wellbeing?!

Layout a Day Challenge

So I have been taking part in the Layout a Day Challenge with Lain over on Big Picture Scrapbooking. So far I'm caught up with one layout a day. I got off to a rocky start with the travel issues we experienced with our trip home over New Year's.

For today's layout I scraplifted the layout from Donna Downey's time lapsed video. I have to say I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

And count'em people... that's 9 pictures on a single 12x12 page! Gotta' love that!

In other news yesterday I retired my Kodak Easy Share camera. After five years an only 2.1 megapixels it was time for a new camera. I bought the Canon PowerShot SD1000 Elph. I like that I don't have to mess with a dock for charging and transfer. Although I am having issues with the card reader but I was able to transfer images using just the cable.

I first saw these on Everyday Edisons this summer, actualy I first heard about it from Donna Downey's blog. When I took a class from her in January she had one and they looked so awesome. I love the color. I can't wait to give it a try at a crop. Thank you Dr. Geek xoxo

Well here it is...my completed Christmas Journal. I'm so happy with how it turned out. Last year I raided my stash each day to find papers to match the prompts. This year I started off with papers from the Making Memories Deck the Halls line. I loved this paper, it was Christmasy without being too in your face! Following in the trend of transparent albums, I made my own. I bought a 12x24 piece of clear plastic at OSH and they cut it for me into 1 6x12 and 2 6x6. Dr. Geek drilled the holes for me. I added the Hambly Studios snowflake transparency behind the front and back covers to add some visual interest. To dress up the binder rings I added some ribbons I found at an awesome Ribbon store in the city!

I'm so lovin' the Stampin' Up punch that makes the notebook paper edges! Today's prompt was about packing up Christmas. I'm a traditionalist and like to wait for Thanksgiving to be over before I start in on the Christmas displays. But Thanksgiving morning I'm loading my Holiday playlist onto my iPod and listen to it exclusively through to the day after Christmas.
This year I loved Josh Groban's new CD, Noel.

An important lesson I learned this year-- don't use the recipe for the dough used for building gingerbread houses for regular cookies. It could cause damage to your teeth!
