It's Spring!

Spring has sprung in our little neck of the woods. I'm normally a fall/winter girl, but now that we have a small house with a good sized yard and patio Spring & Summer mean we can have more folks over at one time.
For me Spring & Summer also means more effort in getting dressed. When you are 100% Irish with red hair and pale skin you must first coat elf in sunscreen, wait for it to dry, and then get dressed. I'm glad that it is now "in" to be careful of the sun.
Growing up there was no such thing as sun block. It was all Coppertone and Ban de Soil. I spent most of my summers swimming with a T-shirt on. I always felt like I was drowning. But now, I no longer feel the need to apologize for my blinding white skin because everyone else is up on proper skin protection!

So I joined my good friend crazed parent in the red velvet art class. We both have completed one project and it is the same project. The premise for this project was to create a portrait using symbols. You guessed, it I took the Disney genre and ran with it! Dr. Geek and I have 5 sets of ears. Excessive... perhaps but they make a great display in our bookshelf in the living room. Dr. Geek wanted me to try and hand stitch our names on them but my sewing skills are much better in my head then they are in reality. I need to find a frame to put this in and voila! handmade art.

Just a quick update...

I wish I had tons to report about how fabulous my life has been that I've been away form the computer living a life so exciting I just couldn't take a minute to write about it's fabulouness. Sadly this is not the case. I'm on the computer every darn day you would think I could take 5 minutes to at the very least post some of my attempts at project 365 like my good friend CrazedParent. Nope haven't done that. I have been taking pictures and I think I'm average about 90% completion. I'm still crossing my fingers that the kits will be reprinted and I can have the snazzy kit in my own hot little hands.

I've gone to a few computer conferences and I have lots of ideas swimming in my noggin about projects I want to try with the students and if they are successful create them in to professional development workshops for my peers.

I'm also going to start teaching some scrapping classes at a local scrapbook store that is going to be under new ownership. I can't wait I love teaching classes.

I've done some scrapping and attended a Friday night crop with a girlfriend and got some layouts done. I managed to "kit" the pages beforehand. I put the pictures and the papers and a few embellishments I thought I'd like to try in a cropper hopper envelope and then put them together knowing that I would add the finishing details (QuicKutz title, stickles, stamping etc) at home. It worked I got all the layouts I brought it with me (4 single page) done and then did a few finishing touches at home. I'm loving Donna Downey's layout book. It makes scrapping so fast!


Ok I should wrap it up. Maybe write more often too!
