Now that it is summer time I want to take advantage of the time I have and get some pages done. Yesterday I received my order of pictures from ScrapbookPictures.com. I normally print from home on my HP Photo printer or order from Kodak. I chose to print with ScrapbookPicutres because I needed square prints.
Why you may ask did I need to have images printed 3x3? Well after reading this post from Shimelle I loaded the Hipstamatic App onto my iPhone and have been having a blast using the App to create some rather artsy looking prints.
A few weeks ago Dr. Geek and I went to an event and my Canon was giving a low battery warning. I was a bit perturbed until I remembered I had my iPhone with me. I took a few test shots of the table to figure out just what settings I wanted and then went to town.
There are various films, lenses and flashes that you can add onto the basic package. Even if you were to buy all of them I still think you'd be way under $20 spent.
This is the look I went with for the lobster feed we attended.
The one drawback is that it "dates" the photo 30 years in the past. I appreciate that for the nostalgic quality but the scrapbooker in me, not so much. I love the rustic look this gives the pictures. It isn't a true black and white, there are some muted colors to add contrast.
I also took a few minutes to take pictures of the rose garden in full bloom at my school last week. I did some with the same film as the above picture and then switched to a full color "film" to really capture the blooms.
Seeing this image reminds me of some old home movies I have from the 30's and 40's that were in color. I know how was there color film available for the general public then? No sure how how some members of my family got a hold of it, but there are a few reels here and there in color.
So if you have an iPhone and want to spice up that camera app, go check out Hipstamic, it is well worth the $1.99!
