I'm a big fan of the coupon, loyalty cards and rewards discount. I'm not about to be on Extreme Couponing, but I like to get a good deal that is relevent to me. I don't need, nor do I have the space for, a stockpile of deodorant and shampoo. But 20% off all purchases including sale items at my local craft store -- I'm there! Thanks to apps like KeyRing and SnipSnap, this is made so much easier!
About 2 years ago I recieved an invitation to pilot the rewards program for a large chain craft store. I guess they figured out I used their coupons with quite some regularity. After my purchase reached a certain level I would be mailed a $5 gift card for the store. I must have been a good customer becasue I received a fair amount of gift cards.
After one year they were done with their trial period, thanks so much, don't call us we'll call you. A few months later they launched a semi nationwide program. I was a bit surprised to learn that those of us who were in the pilot program weren't automaticlly rolled into the new program or issued new cards. No in order to be enrolled in the new program you have to physically pick up a card at one of the brick and mortar stores. Not a problem, I have 4 that I frequent with in a 30 mile radius of my home, surely one of these establishments must issue the cards. WRONG!!!! The only one in my state is 584 miles away, I've done some scrapping road trips but that is outside the relm of any excursion I care to take.
What's a girl to do? Well I kept checking the list and for the past year and the list hasn't added any stores closer to me. I started to think about how many times I've shopped over the past year and how much money I'd spent. The more I thought about it the more I thought "Hey, I helped pilot this program, I should be part of it in it's new form!" So over the past weekend I sent an email to the address listed on the rewards page stating just that. Well in the next few days I got a response - they were sending me a new card for the program! Yay! Bring on the rewards!
